9/11 AND AFTERMATH

Ground Zero after 9/11 - Three Weeks In September

The footage in this clip contains rare raw footage from Ground Zero after the attacks of September 11th, 2001. Within the clip, John Citara, one of the main subjects of the forthcoming 9/11 documentary film "Three Weeks In September", can be seen among hundreds of other volunteers at "The Pile"lending his support to the ongoing recovery efforts. Of particular note, is the quality of the air that is clearly visible in the footage, and the widespread lack of proper respiratory filtration equipment among the brave men and women present.
Three Weeks In September - A 9/11 First Responder Documentary due for independent release in late spring 2009 exposes the toxic conditions responders unknowingly faced, even though they had been reassured by various Federal and Local officials that working conditions were safe. Statements were even issued by the EPA, presumably the highest authority in the land on environmental issues, that the air quality in the immediate area of Ground Zero was safe to breathe.
Since 9/11, tens of thousands of First Responders have fallen ill to a host of ailments that can be directly traced back to the toxic conditions at Ground Zero. Respiratory diseases, digestive disorders, post traumatic stress, and unbearable joint pain are but a few of the many maladies 9/11 First Responders face on a daily basis. Sadly, hundreds have already succumbed to the after effects of their time spent volunteering during the events of 9/11. The fact is, over 7 years after 9/11, Ground Zero is still killing.

"If we don't help these brave responders now, who is going to show up to the next event to volunteer? - Tony Citara - Father of 9/11 First Responder John Citara
