Rock am Ring 2008 DESERVES A LITTLE EXPLANATION
THEY HAVE AN OFFICIAL WEBSITE, THEY HAPPEN AT THE NÜRNBURGRING RECETRACK IN GERMANY ANNUALLY AND SIMULTANEOUSLY WITH ROCK IM PARK IN OR AROUND FRANKENSTADION
ACCORDING TO WIKIPEDIA 'Together Rock im Park and Rock am Ring are the largest music festivals in Germany and one of the largest in the world with a combined attendance of just over 150,000 people in 2007, selling out both events in advance for the first time.'
THE 2008 VERSION FEATURED ABOUT 91 ACTS AND TOOK PLACE JUNE 6-8, 2008
THE FESTIVAL WAS SOLD OUT FOR BOTH VENUES ON MAY 1, 2008
IT WAS SUPPOSED TO BE A ONE-TIME CELEBRATION OF A NEW RACETRACK, BUT BECAUSE OF IT'S COMMERCIAL SUCCESS (75,000 PEOPLE THE FIRST FESTIVAL) IT WAS DECIDED TO MAKE IT AN ANNUAL EVENT
IT WAS SHELVED AFTER POOR ATTENDANCE IN 1988, BUT CAME BACK IN 1991
AGAIN ACCORDING TO WIKIPEDIA, 'The 2007 festival was used in a science experiment to test the effects of large bodies of people simultaneously jumping. The experiment data was used to calculate the result if the entire Chinese population were to jump in unison. The experiment concluded no significant results would come from the theoretical event.'
